500BHP GR Yaris modified to the max!

This highly modded Toyota GR Yaris is one of the best we’ve built yet, its running 500bhp on E85, a forged engine and 7 speed sequential gearbox.

So lets start with the engine spec, to make the engine as strong as possible the block has had a Spec J closed deck insert fitted for extra strength along with Nitto forged pistons and conrods. The cylinder head has been CNC ported and fitted with Supertech valves and bronze valve guides which all go towards increasing flow which will maximise the power we can achieve from the engine. We use an HKS head gasket along with a set of Kelford 267A cams with matching Kelford valve springs fitted.

So this is pretty much the ultimate G16E-GTS engine you can have, this will take 500bhp all day long and more if you want to push it harder.

This was the first GR Yaris to have our Whifbitz turbo kit fitted. Our turbo kits come with our own manifold design and use the Garrett G25 turbos, either the 550 or 660 versions depending on the power goals. G25-550 normally gives around 420bhp on pump fuel and 500bhp on E85 and the 660 version makes around 480ish bhp on pump fuel and just over 600bhp on E85.

Fueling is provided by our own Whifbitz fuel system which consists of a Radium surge tank mounted in the boot with an extra Walbro 530lph fuel pump along with larger Deutchwerks 1100cc port injectors.

This is also the first GR Yaris to have one of our Whifbitz billet inlet manifolds, these give a slight increase in power but also make it easy to fit an aftermarket map sensor and it uses a larger Bosch throttle body for extra flow on the bigger power engines and of course it looks better that the original plastic manifold too.

The Airtec intercooler and oil cooler keeps the intake and oil temps under control, both a must for any modified GR Yaris or one that’s being used on track. Its also got the best intake kit on the market, the Eventuri which is in our dyno tests is the only we’ve used that actually increases power. We’ve also fitted a Lamspeed Racing baffled sump kit, without it they suffer with low oil pressure which will definitely cause issues as time goes on.

The standard engine ecu will only allow you to do so much so its now being controlled by a Syvecs stand alone ecu, these are fully mappable and allow full control over everything on the engine and have to be fitted if you’re running this kind of power.

So with all of these mods its making 435bhp at 1.8 bar boost on pump fuel but when we add E70 fuel which is 70% ethanol the power shoots up to 500bhp at 2.3 bar boost and there’s still some more power to be had if the owner wanted a bit more.

As you can see from the dyno graph the way these engines produce the power is amazing, just look how much torque its producing down low, don’t forget this is a 1.6 3 cylinder engine, it still remains very responsive and usable even with this kind of power.

X Shift do a bolt in kit for the Yaris which comes with most of the parts you need but it’s still a time consuming job getting it fitted as it’s not just a case of bolting the gearbox in. The gear-lever needs mounting, shift cables have to be run through the bulkhead, wiring looms made to connect it all to the Syvecs ecu so it can do the gear cuts needed for each shift and then mapping to set it all up. We are an official dealer for Xshift gearboxes so if you need one for your car just check on our website.

Chassis wise, these don’t really need a lot doing to them as a handle so well out of the box but they do still respond well to a good set of coilovers, this particular car has a set of Nitron NTR1’s fitted with a more track focused alignment, its also got Protrack 18” wheels with Yokohama tyres, some Pumaspeed brake discs and an Airtec Motorsport front strut brace.

And you can see its not red, white or black like they all are, this one has had a coloured PPF done in Nardo grey. Its also got TRD front splitter and side skirts to finish off the looks and I think you’ll agree it looks fantastic.
