BMW M3 F80 going standard to 550bhp!

Really nice BMW M3 F80 in the Whifbitz workshop for a power upgrade and crank hub fix.

We fitted an Insane Performance crank hub to fix the crank hub issue the BMW S55 engine can suffer with, massively important to do this especially if you are upping the power, all you need to do is google BMW S55 crank hub fix to find out why we fitted one.

This BMW M3 was totally standard when it arrived with us and was putting out 420bhp, pretty much bang on what they are supposed to have from the factory. A very common issue on the BMW M3/M4 are the turbos failing and these were showing signs of leaking oil and when removed had excessive shaft play so we fitted a set of rebuilt turbos.

We then fitted the following bolt on parts to boost the power to 550bhp:

• Equal length midpipe
• Whifbitz downpipes
• Bootmod3 stage 2 OTS map
• K&N drop in air filters
• NGK 97506 spark plugs
• FTP Motorsport chargepipes
• FTP Motorsport air intake pipes

The dyno graph below shows 474whp but when converted to flywheel power it equates to 550bhp, not a bad increase for just a few bolt on parts and an “off the shelf” map!
